For many, personal finance is a problem both emotionally and practically. Frequently, we do not manage it well and that is why most of us feel we do not have enough of it. Often, we inherit our negative attitudes about money and do not even realize that we are caught in attitude not of our own making. Fred Brown asseverates that money is about energy, balance and flow. In making friends with money, we become healthier in our spiritual growth. Most people measure their self-worth by their bank accounts. The bigger it is, the better they feel about themselves.
This is because we put so much energy into earning money; it represents the very energy of life as we see it. Some people think they are responsible for their success. And, their intelligence and abilities made it so,. This is the serious challenge to wealth: Not to be deceived by your ego, but to remember that it is God who gives us the power to become prosperous. This is not to say that your success is not as a result of your effort. You must do everything humanly possible to ensure success. Not just sit back and wait for money to
come your way, but let it be in a justifiable means. On its own, money can be a curse. Money can cause endless anxiety. For no matter how much you have, you can never be sure that you will not loose it all. When you put money in perspective and recognize why it was given to you, it become a blessing instead of a curse. And by using your wealth for charitable and philanthropic purposes instead of spending it all in the desire of the moment, your money becomes eternal. See my previous article on “Building Wealth to Give Back to Others”
There are two (2) kinds of blessings: God’s blessing and man’s blessing; Natural blessing and Spiritual blessing. God blessing is often God blessing a person which could either be naturally, spiritually or both. Whereas, man’s blessing is when a person blesses God or blesses another person.
Natural blessing may include abundant wealth or riches; while spiritual blessing is grace or salvation that is, Jesus Christ. So, to answer the question: Is Money a Blessing in Your Life? I will like to express the fact that God blessing as mentioned above is not material wealth, even though it may include material wealth. In spite of physical and emotional troubles, pains or turmoil, even in the midst of storm, one can still be blessed with money. For instance, (Job 42:1-2) in the Scripture was entirely satisfied. He came to understand that God could do anything including giving an explanation for the suffering of the world.
I have observed many people who became extremely wealthy. In most cases, those who become wealthy loose their psychological motivation to provide the means of support to their families. People who no longer have to earn money to survive unwittingly must turn to other things in order to seemingly have a purpose in the society. Though, most of these
purposes are bad. Helping others can bring a lot of happiness. I am not suggesting just giving money to anyone who asks (as there might be plenty of people asking.) Use your value to dictate how and to whom you will give. These days our society is thinking about money all the time. And for good reason, it can be a curse when they start fighting within families or spending on things that do not advance the family well-being. Douglas Adams once said “money is commonly defined by the functions attached to any good or token that functions in
trade as a medium of exchange, store of value, and unit of account, although economics offers various definitions.” Money in your life has value to you because you have allotment of your time on earth working to acquire it. Money represents the life energy you invest in getting it. Many think that the root of all evil is money (perhaps, this view is supported by those who believed that the poor and the meek shall inherit.) Others think is the engine that makes the world run. One of the biggest problems is simply that the generation that earned
the money did not teach us how to work with money. They worked hard and did not part with their money easily, but we received it quickly, went for it faster using some terms like “join the fast lane, Make your money in a moment and so forth” Others squander theirs once it gets to their hands. Some times they do not give consumerism a second thought. Invest strategically because having plan ready for all money is more important. Finally, I challenge you to find the blessing that money provides, and stay away from the curses so often tied up with money.
